Whitney was diagnosed with hearing loss when she was 18 months old. She developed spasticity in her legs, started having seizures and lost all of her speech. She’s even had brain surgery to decompress her cerebellum. During her recovery at the hospital her heart rate dropped several times and doctors soon found an atrial septal defect in her heart.
She suffers from multiple disorders which disrupt many of her body’s systems from operating normally.
"Our hearts ached after hearing her diagnosis. We were consumed with sorry and fear over the unknown struggles Whitney would experience," said Whitney’s parents.
Whitney is a brave girl who has endured many difficulties and hardships. Despite her health struggles, Whitney loves to swim, be outside, dance, sing, and to go camping. She has the ability to bring a smile to all those she comes in contact with.
Whitney’s wish has given her entire family consistency and something to look forward too. It’s providing them something "known". Whitney’s heartfelt wish was to visit New York City where she shopped at the world’s largest Build-A-Bear store and saw Lady Liberty.
