Wish kid Allie of Eagle, Idaho will be hosting an Instagram takeover for Make-A-Wish Idaho to celebrate the granting of her online shopping spree wish during the coronavirus pandemic. The Instagram takeover will take place all day on May 6, 2020 on the Make-A-Wish Idaho Instagram page located at instagram.com/maw_idaho
. The account’s handle is @maw_idaho.
Allie is 16 years old and underwent treatment for lymphoma. She’s been in remission since the fall. Allie chose the shopping spree wish in order to purchase things that she needs to go to college in a few years. Allie will use Make-A-Wish Idaho’s Instagram page to share her unique story and perspective, discussing plans for her future and why she chose her wish.
Gail Paradis, volunteer wish granter assigned to the wish, said that “Allie is a happy and inspirational young lady who hasn't let her illness hold her back from accomplishing her goals. She's an excellent and motivated student and is also cheerleader at her high school.”
Make-A-Wish Idaho faces a record number of wishes that are waiting to be granted as a result of the recent need to postpone all wishes that involve travel due to the public and medical concerns of COVID-19. Nearly 80% of all wishes involve travel, and 40 wishes from Make-A-Wish Idaho were impacted with additional wishes being impacted every day. The challenging circumstances have inspired Make-A-Wish to think creatively about how to bring hope and joy. Make-A-Wish Idaho is proud to be granting wishes like Allie’s during these uncertain times.
